Domestication

It has happened.

I have become domesticated. As my homemade spaghetti sauce is simmering, I am folding laundry and making plans for dinner tonight. I look around the little apartment and see touches of my journey into domestication: the homemade drapes, the hand-painted wall art, etc. Even more impressive to me is the fact that I am in the process of making my third quilt for a friend's upcoming baby shower. I kind of hate it every time, but I love creating the quilt and getting to the finished product... it's just the actual making of the quilt that I don't really enjoy.

What a funny little stage of life I'm in.

But of course I keep a good balance of young couple fun time, as well. :) Jake and I went out swing dancing on St. Patrick's Day... SO fun!

Days Like These

It's days like these which make me realize how wonderful my little life is and how much I will miss my "routine" once I finish up school and start working again.

Peppermint hot cocoa and a snowy day, crepes with friends and some C.S. Lewis. I am blessed, indeed.

Marathon Update

The Utah marathon is cancelled for Jake and I. Not to completely blame our friends, but it's 100% their fault: one of our favorite couple friends are getting married on June 11, 2011, which is the exact day of the marathon, so we decided to search for another marathon around the same time-frame.

This is what we found:

We will be running in the Casper, Wyoming marathon on June 5, 2011.

  • Fresh mountain air, a laid-back town, and less of the big-race hoopla that followed my first marathon.
  • The Oregon Trail ran through the city and we will get to run past areas that still have ruts in the ground from the wagons.
  • They say to expect to see pronghorns, deer, and eagles all along the course!
Beats Denver by far. I'm really expecting a great race (even though I've spotted a few uphill climbs that might lessen my optimism during the run).
